How to broadcast

  • What is a Live Broadcast?

User Live Broadcast is a live streaming service where you share comments and watch video image live! By leaving a comment, you can get instant feedbacks from other users watching the program. It's available to anyone who has an account and you can get started without either a web camera nor microphone . Let's explore the world with this new form of communication!!

*You may experience difficulty in broadcasting when Niconico is airing an official live broadcast.


  • Getting Started 

To use Niconico Live you must first create an account for Niconico and become a Premiumβ Member. If you haven't created an account please follow the steps below.

1. Head over to the "Create New Account" page.

2. Follow the guides to register a new account.

3. Login from the Login / Register in the Nico Live page top by typing in the email address and password you used during the registration. 


  • Registering for Premium
1. Head to the Click on the "Go Live" button located on the top right or "Join Premium" on the page header.

2. Click on "Register for Premiumβ Membership"

3. Click on "Become a Member from here" to agree to the Terms of Use.

4. Make the paypal settlement in the next screen by providing the necessary information.



  • How to reserve and start your live broadcast

Reserve

1. Click on "Go Live Now!" in the menu bar at the top.

  •        You haven't created a community or do not belong in one, you will be asked to first create one. Please type in the required field and press "Create Community" to create a new community.

    * You can alternatively click on "Interested in Broadcasting? Click here to start!" located at the Nico Live Top page to get started.


2. Fill in the required field starting with the title, description and the community you want to broadcast in.

3. Choose the starting time for your broadcast, it's access policy and timeshift availability

4. Click on "Confirm" to go to the confirmation page and press "OK" to reserve your program.


  • Start your Live Broadcast!

1.    Check on your Mypage at the Nico Live page.

2.    When the countdown for your broadcast is over, click on "Start Broadcast"

3.   After pressing the "Start Broadcast" button you will be taken to the page below. You will be given a 30 minutes to broadcast. From there you will be asked to either broadcast in "Easy Mode" or "Broadcast in external tool".


1. Broadcast Easy Mode
 In Broadcast Easy mode you will be able to broadcast without either a camera nor a microphone. 

  • Getting started
 After creating a program page, you will be taken to a page below

 By clicking on the "Broadcast Easy Mode" you will be asked if you want to permit camera/microphone connection. If you want to use your camera or microphone please click on "Permit".


  • Camera and microphone connection permitted
 Select the type of camera or microphone on this screen.
If you can't find the device you want to use, please refresh the page or reboot the browser.

 After setting the camera/microphone (mandatory), click on "Begin Test Stream" or "Start Broadcasting Now!" clrcled in red .

  • Test Streaming
 In Test Stream you will be able to test all of the functions available on Nico Live Broadcast 5 minutes before the start of the program..
By clicking on the are circled in red, you can extend the test time 5 minutes each and up to 25 minutes in total. 
*On a reserved broadcast, you will be able to Test Stream until Opening Time (3 minutes before start).

After you are done testing, quickly click on "Start Broadcast".

You can stream videos from Niconico.com by using the tool bar underneath the video player. For details go here.


[ ! ] Having trouble getting back the camera image?
Click on the red area that says "Resend Camera Image".
If this does not solve your problem please try refreshing the page.

2. Broadcast in External Tool

External Tool Broadcasting utilizes external encoder such as Adobe® Flash® Media Live Encoder (Adobe Flash Media Live Encoder is a product of Adobe) enabling broadcast in high sound/image quality.
External Tool Broadcasting requires setups. For details go here.

  • Getting started
After creating a program page, you will be taken to a page below.

By clicking on the "Broadcast in External Tool" you will be then taken to a page below. Please have the XML files setup.

  • After external tool connection is complete
If you need testing, click on "Begin Test Stream"
If you are ready to broadcast, click on "Start Broadcasting Now!"


[ ! ] Caution when using external player
If you want to switch back to "Broadcast Easy Mode", please remove the external tool.
Please remember to shutdown the external tool after broadcasting. 
Video images may still continue being broadcasted it they are not turned off.




  •  Broadcasting without cameras or mikes

Instead of using an image from a camera or mike you can alternatively stream videos from Niconico in your live broadcast as a video image. To stream videos on your live broadcast, type in the following commands in the administrator comment space.


-Stream videos from Niconico 

sm(VideoID) or /play sm(VideoID)


-Stream videos on your sub-screen

/play sm(VideoID) sub


-Swap the main-screen with the sub-screen

/swap


-Remove the sub-screen

/stop sub


  • Filter Settings
You can filter comments by using the NG settings tab on your right.
To use NG Settings, check on "Use NG Settings", select what you want filtered from the drop-down screen and type in the word, User ID or commands.

Items added on to the NG Settings can be removed by selecting the either the words, User ID and commands that are in the list and clicking on "Delete". If you want to remove them all, click on "Select All" and press "Delete".


  • End Broadcast
1. If you want to quit your broadcast early, first head on to "Mypage" and look at "Your Programs". Program you are airing will have the sign "NOW ON AIR".
2. Click on "End Broadcast"


Why can't I share videos?

Some videos cannot be shared on Niconico.com if its embedding are disabled by the original uploader. If the video you are about to share fits this description, you would receive a message that would say.... 

"The video cannot be played
The video does not exist or have been deleted."

On most sites, you can check if the embedding of videos are disabled from ( share > Embed ).
